In 2018, Malta’s press institute called for an investigation after I was assaulted while reporting from Malta’s capital Valletta. After exposing government workers destroying a protest site for slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, I was requested to testify about what I had observed by Malta’s Constitutional Court.
At the height of the coronavirus pandemic, I wanted to interview a leading Maltese healthcare professional to inform readers about the seriousness of the virus. In retaliation to my previous work, this request was blocked by members of the Maltese health ministry. The incident received international condemnation.
