In 2018, Malta’s press institute called for an investigation after I was assaulted while reporting from Malta’s capital Valletta. After exposing government workers destroying a protest site for slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, I testified as a witness in front of the Constitutional Court. The Justice Minister was subsequently found guilty of breaking the rights of the protestors.

At the height of the coronavirus pandemic, I sought to interview a leading health care professional to inform readers about the virus. In retaliation to my previous work, this request was blocked by Maltese authorities. I was also blacklisted by the Ministry for Health. The incident received international condemnation.
