Writing

Schwaiger broke the news about Maltese government workers destroying a protest memorial set up in honour of the assassinated journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. He was requested to testify about what he witnessed by the country’s Constitutional Court.

Using Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, he revealed that during the coronavirus pandemic, Maltese authorities were removing safety measures without basing their decision-making on scientific evidence. His reporting was cited by other media outlets and Malta’s opposition leader.

Other examples of his written pieces include an interview with the USA’s vaccine chief, research linking the gut’s microbiome to our biological age, and an opinion piece on the postponed release of Bard (Google’s AI chatbot) in Europe.

Schwaiger is also one of the authors of a journal article published in The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology that looked into the antibiotic resistance of the bacteria that cause acne.

Speaking

Schwaiger likes taking breaks from typing on his laptop to get involved in different activities. He has delivered a number of workshops on debating, public speaking, and journalism. And there’s always room for more! He is also the resident host of an online current affairs programme.
